Choco-Almond Butter Apples
I recently did this Sugar Detox thingy which you can find out all about here. You can also check out my pal Emma Magenta’s chronicles of her own adventures detoxing from sugar, replete with poop and meat sweats. Good times abound.
As much as I dragged my heels cutting out the sugar, I feel really great for having done it. My energy is better. My mental altitude is better, and I’ve been kind of a productivity dynamo. I’m so into learning about nutrition that I’m fantasizing about going back to school and adding nutrition to my oeuvre. No definite plans there but it’s fun to be jazzed about something new. For now I’m just daydreaming about saving up my pennies for tuition.
Anyway, on The 21 Day Sugar Detox one green apple per day is allowed so you know I made that sucker count. I crushed that granny (smith) like a mac truck. I meant to take a photo of the finished product to share with you but I accidentally ate the whole thing and licked the ramekin clean before I got to it. Whoopsie. C’est la guerre sucre.
1 sliced Granny Smith apple
1 Tablespoon-ish raw almond butter
1 Tablespoon-ish coconut oil
1 Teaspoon-ish raw cacao powder
1 Splash-ish pure vanilla
Salt to taste (Pink Himalayan Salt is the bee’s knees in this)
As you can see this recipe is markedly precise. Use a fork or spoon to mix the almond butter and coconut oil in a ramekin until well blended. Add cacao, vanilla and salt. Mix well. Dip apple slices. Eat. Die of happiness.
